So much prayer happens in this place you can't help but to feel the presence of Almighty God when you walk through the door. Highly recommended!
Who we are and what's important to us: married, 30s, young children -- looking for a loving church, Bible teaching, authentic, caring to the community, with a loving, trustworthy, gentle and fun children's program.
My husband and I visited on the recommendation of neighbors. Very disappointing. If I wanted to listen to political rhetoric, I could have stayed home and turned on the TV.
Everyone in this family looks forward all week to attending The Bridge on Sunday.
I am glad that I listened for so long before finally walking through the doors because it's unlike any church that my husband or I have been to in the past. Although 10 years old with a congregation of about 500 usually attending 2 services, it's still housed in the local elementary school. The music is the "wow factor" theatrical lighting with a band (more on that in a moment). Pastor Matt is young and dresses very casually. The congregation members really do span the board. The second sunday I attended, an ancient man in a powder blue suit sang a 4 minute hymn. There are tons of little kids. Tons of teens and 20s. Middle aged. I mean it -- all over the board! This church has a vibrant church body. If I had not had the benefit of only listening to the sermon archives (no seeing, no knowledge of the music, the building, the congregation), I probably would have been somewhat suspicious of The Bridge; wondering if it was one of the newer non-denominational churches that are caught up in the lights, camera, action emotionalism than they are with preaching the word -- the come as you are and don't change at all variety. But I already knew from weeks of morning listening that Pastor Matt is the real deal.
We have been attending The Bridge for 6 months and cannot praise everything about it enough!
The final straw for me in leaving the church we had been regularly visiting was figuring out that, although a huge, glossy, fancy pants church, the church never reached out with free community events. When Christmas rolled around, that church had a very glitzy play w/ dinner (cooked by their on staff professional chef) with expensive tickets sold to members. On the other hand, the little ol' Bridge Church reached out with mass advertising to get new people from the community to a service w/ lots of "carrots" to get people in the door. The Bridge does a number of things every quarter with a heart to evangelizing (remember, this is with the added logistics and expenses of finding places to hold events. (Being The Bridge between the unbeliever and Jesus) When I found out how much The Bridge does for the community and how little the Big Glitz church did, I knew it was time to try out The Bridge.
The children's program:
Incredible church
Everyone in our family has grown exponentially in our faith and our love of the Lord.
We tried a number of churches here when we moved and kept moving on, if for no other reason, than the children's programs at the other churches was lacking. I was concerned about changing churches again after attending a big area Baptist church for awhile because my children were finally comfortable in the children's program there and I was more or less content with it as well. However, I was unhappy with everything other than the children's program and felt that I had to give The Bridge a try. I was concerned about another adjustment and change for my wee ones. However, the child I had the greatest trepidation about moving to yet another program greeted me after the very first sunday with an exuberant "This is the church for us!!!" bouncing up and down. They both continue to thrive there!
We were invited to go to The Bridge a number of months before we actually stepped foot in the building. As it became clear that the church we had been visiting would not be a good home church for us, I started to listen to Pastor Matt Day's sermons online. I listened every morning and was blown away by his Bible basis, his personal passion, his humility, and his compassion without disavowing God's word. Listen to his archived sermons!
